# Integrations & flows

The orchestration layer. An integration is the container that groups related flows, connections, and settings; a flow is the pipeline that moves records from a source to one or more destinations.

The steps a flow runs (exports, imports, tools) are shared with APIs, AI agents, and MCP servers, so they have their own section: [Exports, imports & tools](/api/api-reference/exports-imports-and-tools.md). Topics, the event streams that hand records from one flow to another, are under [Data stores](/api/api-reference/data-stores.md).
